Rip Those CDs. Your old CD media is expensive and vulnerable. Have backups. I like FLAC so far, because it’s lossless (makes a PERFECT archive) and it can rip the full disc using Exact Audio Copy. Read on for some good tools.

WordPress 1.21 CSS Bug

Even the Cato Institute and Business week get it. In an article titled ‘It’s Too Easy To Get Hard Time‘, Ciro Scotti reports that “With more than 4,000 federal crimes alone now on the books, you’d have to be Mother Theresa not to be in jeopardy at some point.”
Do we really want to live in a country where a person’s action and motive aren’t the primary reasons for incarceration–it’s whether a prosecutor or politician points a finger in your direction? Isn’t it a sad thing when “it’s against the law” no longer provides a useful guide to proper behavior? Must we have to teach our young people two sets of rules: what you really do, and what you tell the cops?

Mac Software to look into.
I still haven’t gotten the hiss out of my EBN-OZN track. But there’s some software I’d love to try out to do the job. SoundSoap promises to get the hiss out.
Also, in my ever-restarting quest to find good enterprise applications for my little enterprise, Time Navigator has an interesting name for some backup software. Worth a second look. Later.YahooPOPs is a cool little proggie for downloading your Yahoo! mail. Download the build from the forums rather than the download page, since it seems like the compiling from the devs is a little behind. Also, it needs Fink and libxml installed. A little bit of work, but it doesn’t lock my Yahoo! Mail account like Mr. Postman did, and it’s not as limited-use as fetchyahoo.
I tried to set it up on my gentoo box, but it just SegFaults. Doesn’t look like the codebase for this app is particularly well maintained. Oh well. Still a good tool. Update: Wow, was that a big dead end. This program has more warts than a frog-licker’s tongue. I’ve pulled it completely now. Locked yahoo account and crashed thunderbird just make the lack of effective downloading less fun. Bah.
