Getting Things Done Links

I’m in the middle of reading David Allen’s Getting Things Done book. Wow. Good stuff. Time to archive some GTD links. The master site is 43 Folders, and one should also check out their Wiki. Also worth checking out is the Black Belt Productivity Blog. Some time later I’ll check out “The Printable CEO” as well.

Some implementation hints and software: AppleScript for Mail.app/GTD Tickler, MailActOn script hotkeys for Mail.app, Kinkless GTD for Mac, Getting Things Done in Mail.app Blog.

Windows Install Imaging

I’m working on a little project that needs to deploy windows in an automatic and effective fashion, and so, once again, I’m looking at unattended/imaging methods to see what’s out there to make this task a little easier. Let’s link.

Of course, there’s sysprep…which I don’t know that I’ve given a fair shake to. I’m not sure what this sysprep driver scanner does. This is still the microsoft way and worth investigating.

On the other hand there’s building a slipstreamed XP install disk with driver packs that make it complete. There’s a neat guide about how to do this well. Also, check out autopatcher and autostreamer. I think there’s probably some good reads at AppDeploy–and videos too.

Alternatively, there’s good old unattended.sourceforge.net which has done me right in the past….but isn’t under very active development, and is so durned network-based. And hard to test. Don’t lose the Real Men Don’t Click link. WPKG is also a good look. ANI I haven’t looked at at all.

ajaxApplications

I’m still trying to find the right way to publish my formatted Kenpo technique writeups online. I keep flirting with various AJAX applications that are coming out. In the word processor realm, there’s AjaxWrite (review), ThinkFree Office (review) (which looks to be more Java-based), and Zoho Writer. Also cool is AjaxSketch, which I really need to play with. Free Draw? Bonus! ThinkFree’s iCdocs might also come in handy. Update: Writely, from Google is out now as well.

Gaming Fun and Loathing

In the course of my process of RPG gaming research (I still have such a minimal idea of how to play a ROLE playing game…but I’m working on it) I found a great online game. You’ll hate that it’s free. Go to Kingdom of Loathing and get your meat paste!

Element’s Dream is a completely open-sourced short movie. Very cool. Still trying to figure out the story.

Online Spreadsheets

A number of AJAX spreadsheets have appeared. One at Google works with your gmail account, but only allows named users to read or colaborate. EditGrid also has a free service, this one with anonymous viewing and editing possible. Finally WikiCalc is code you can run on your own system or server to provide an AJAX spreadsheet.
